ACR 126-Sergeant Nicole Gee, United States Marine Corps Memorial Highway

January 22, 2024

From: Assemblymember Joe Patterson

I had the immense honor and opportunity to introduce Assembly Concurrent Resolution 126, coauthored by Senator Roger Niello, which would dedicate a section of I-80 between Douglas Boulevard and the junction of State Route 65 will be known as “Nicole Gee Memorial Highway.”

This was my first piece of legislation introduced for the 2024 and my hope is to get it through the finish line.  Sgt. Gee was just 23
years old when a suicide bomber took her life, along with 12 other service members, while on a humanitarian mission assisting in the evacuation of refugees during the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan. We hold a special place in our hearts for Nicole, and I hope every time we drive by her memorial sign, we remember the joy she brought to everyone she knew, the light she was to others all around the world, and that we never forget the sacrifice she made for the people of this nation.
