Action Alert: Remove $5 Fee from Veteran Drivers’ Licenses

November 4, 2021
Veterans and Advocates,

We need your help to remove the $5 DMV fee for the “veteran” designation on the California driver’s licenses.

The DMV offers a “veteran” designation on driver’s licenses and identification cards, allowing veterans to easily access benefits available to them without having to present their discharge papers. The DMV, however, charges $5 for designated driver’s licenses and identification cards. One of the California State Commanders Veterans Council’s top priorities in 2022 will be to get this fee removed.

Will you take a few minutes to send a letter to the Governor asking that he direct DMV to waive the fee? Use our simple, fast, online letter writing tool to send a letter to the Governor today.

Veterans have made significant sacrifices to serve this country and should not have to pay for the distinction of possessing a “veteran” designated driver’s license or identification card.

Thank you for your support!
