Women Veterans of the Ark La Tex
Contact: Sandy FranksOrganization Info
The Women Veterans of the Ark La Tex is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission to honor and assist women Veterans who have and continue to serve our country. Our vision is to ensure that women Veterans are recognized and respected for their service, that they have the opportunity to achieve their fullest potential and that they are recognized for the sacrifices they and their loved ones made on behalf of this great country. There are over 2 million women Veterans and over 70% are not aligned with any Veteran service organization. The Women Veterans of the Ark La Tex seeks to fill this gap. Members pay no dues and all women Veterans and active duty women are invited to join. We meet monthly for comradery, sisterhood, friendship, fun and community service.
The organization is raising funds to erect a bronze statue of a woman Veteran to be located at the Veterans Memorial at the Bossier City Municipal Complex on Benton Road in Bossier City, Louisiana. The statue, which will be six feet tall is in battle dress uniform and will stand on a granite pedestal with the inscription, “Dedicated in honor of those women who have, those who are and those who will serve our great Nation”. The pedestal will sit on a granite base displaying the five bronze service seals.
