Deadline Approaching: Hoover Institution Veteran Fellowship Program

February 21, 2024

THE PROGRAM:
The Hoover Institution’s Veteran Fellowship Program (VFP) is an accelerator program for do-ers. The VFP is a year-long, non-residential, project-based program for post-9/11 veterans who want to effect meaningful policy change and accelerate solution-finding at a local, state, or national level. The focus of the program is the capstone project: in the application process, Veteran Fellows identify their capstone topic, which addresses a significant challenge in the public sector. The capstone should provide a real-world framework to develop actionable solutions for the challenge addressed.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
Five in-person visits during the year, a capstone project, and (optional) international study tour.

PROVIDED:
During the program’s in-person engagements, Hoover will pay for accommodations, most meals, and local transportation costs. Participants arrange and pay for their own travel; Hoover provides a $10,000 stipend for accepted participants to offset the costs associated with travel.

ELIGIBILITY:
The VFP is open to US military veterans (e.g. separated, retired, or in the select reserve) from the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, National Guard (must include at least one period of Title 10 federal activation), Navy, Marines, or Space Force who served on active duty within the last 25 years (including at least 18 months on active duty on or after September 11, 2001) and are successful midcareer practitioners with the self-motivation, professional network, and vision to pursue a capstone project.

APPLICATION:
The VFP is a program for veterans who have identified a high-impact issue and possess the determination and personal inspiration to try different approaches at solving that issue through iteration, engagement and feedback. If that sounds like you or someone you know, apply today at Hoover.org or forward to a friend / colleague.

DEADLINE: March 4, 2024 (11:59 PM PT)
