Let Women Veterans Be Seen and Heard This Veterans Day

When a school, business, or community organization plans a Veterans Day event, who gets invited to speak? That choice shapes how the audience understands military service.

Women have served in every generation, yet their stories are still too often missing from the stage. A student should be able to picture a woman when she hears the word “veteran.” An employer should hear directly from women who have led teams, solved problems, and carried those skills into civilian life. And women veterans deserve the chance to tell their own stories, in their own words.

That is one reason we created the Veteran Speaker Directory at Veteran.Events. It brings military and veteran speakers together in one place, making it easier for event organizers to find and contact someone whose experience fits their audience. With Veterans Day next month, many schools and businesses are looking for speakers now.

If you are a woman veteran who speaks, teaches, leads, or advocates, we invite you to explore joining the directory. You may speak about your military experience, your transition, leadership, entrepreneurship, or another subject you know well. Your perspective can broaden the conversation about who veterans are and what they contribute.

If you are planning a Veterans Day event, browse the directory and consider the women veterans whose voices your audience needs to hear. If you know a woman veteran who belongs on that stage, please share this opportunity with her.

Representation begins with the people we invite into the room. This Veterans Day, let’s make sure women veterans are among them.
