Next Step: Transition to Business is an immersive two-week business certificate program inspired by the needs of U.S. military veterans and elite athletes who are ready to take the next step in their careers. Next Step’s mix of courses and career development support equips veterans and athletes with the knowledge and tools to bridge the gap between athletics or military service and the business world. Veterans at any stage of their transition can apply. It doesn’t matter if they are still on active duty or separated a while ago; our goal is to help a deserving group of people achieve their goals when they need help the most.
We had 70 participants from all branches of the military and representing five Olympic sports in the first program, which took place in March of 2017. You can read the Financial Times’ coverage of Next Step here. As of August, 64% of alumni of the inaugural session received job offers or a promotion post-program.
We are aware that veterans often don’t have the resources for programs like this which is why Tuck is proud to be able to heavily subsidize Next Step through the generosity of our donors. The cost to participants is just $1,500, which includes all tuition, program materials, lodging, and most meals for the two-week program. Financial aid is available through Tuck and partner organizations like The COMMIT Foundation and The Navy Seal Foundation, and JetBlue is covering the cost of air travel. The next session will be held March 11-23, 2017 on Tuck’s campus. The first application deadline is January 15, with a final round on February 15, space permitting.
