Porterville Newspaper Looking to write stories about women vets

September 28, 2017

The Recorder is looking for a few good women to feature in our Veterans Day special section this year.

Veterans Day is one of the biggest days of the year here and rightly so. If you’ve had the chance to live or visit elsewhere, you quickly learn that few places are as patriotic and proud of their veterans as Porterville.

Each year as a tribute, we write stories on veterans and their families. The Recorder has been doing it for as long as I can remember.

Even though Veterans Day is more than a month away, we need to begin working on the stories.

This year, we thought it would be fun and interesting to profile women veterans and were hoping you, the readers, knew someone to suggest?

We are simply looking for women who have served or are currently serving in the military with ties to Porterville, Springville, Lindsay, Terra Bella, Ducor, any of our mountain communities, Strathmore, or Woodville. It doesn’t matter how young or old they are or if they have been involved in combat.

The easiest way to suggest someone is by calling me at 784-5000, ext. 1048, or email me at bwilliams@portervillerecorder.com. But don’t put it off we need to connect with these people soon.
