Sevrine Banks, Army Veteran

Sevrine - Sevrine Banks, Army VeteranMy name is Sevrine Banks and I am an Army veteran. I served as a combat medic and retired in February 2015. I had the honor of leading a group of 64 women into Southern Afghanistan as the Female Engagement Team and First Sergeant– the only one in the U.S. Army.

These women overcame many obstacles in order to be assigned to combat arms units, as the only women assigned to a platoon at times. I decided to retire because the military started to take a toll on me and it saddened me greatly every time I had to leave my children. We have since started roots here in Sacramento, CA, after moving here a year ago.

I currently work for the Department of Health Care Services as a manager. I truly enjoy my job and the California lifestyle with my children!

I love giving back to the community and often find myself volunteering somewhere. I am blessed to have come in contact with Melissa and show that we, as women, are veterans too!

Hometown: Port-au-Prince, Haiti
