“Sisters in Arms: Lessons We’ve Learned” Stories from Women Veterans

December 21, 2023

On August 25, 2022, Women Veterans Alliance organized a webinar featuring Dawn Brotherton, Air Force Veteran and founder of Blue Dragon Publishing. The webinar, titled “Have you ever been told you should write a book?” provided an opportunity for women veterans to share their stories in a new book.

In June 2023, the book “Sisters in Arms: Lessons We’ve Learned” was published, showcasing narratives from 15 women veterans, many of whom had participated in the webinar. The book delves into the experiences of women in the military, covering everything from basic training to combat situations.

The authors featured in “Sisters in Arms” were trailblazers in their respective fields, contributing to the betterment of women’s lives in the armed forces. Their stories illustrate how they navigated through challenges with courage and perseverance. The book invites readers to learn from these women’s journeys, discovering how they developed self-belief and tapped into their inner strength to achieve their goals. The lessons shared are meant to inspire and empower others, offering insights that can be applied to one’s own life.

Regardless of whether these women served for a few decades or a few months, the experiences they recount in the book have shaped them into strong, resilient, courageous, ambitious, inspirational, and committed individuals. Their collective aim is to share their stories and provide strength to those who follow in their footsteps.
