The Best Opportunity for Military-Affiliated Business Owners Returning in 2023

January 16, 2023

For military-connected entrepreneurs, the availability of programs uniquely tailored to their
success is severely limited. Of the rare opportunities available, Veteran EDGE (Engage. Develop. Grow.
Elevate.) is a preeminent event empowering today’s servicemembers, veterans, and their spouses who
are starting on their entrepreneurial journey. Provided by Syracuse University’s D’Aniello Institute for
Veterans and Military Families (IVMF), Veteran EDGE offers four days of industry-leading programming
specifically designed for military-affiliated business owners from across the nation, representing a broad
spectrum of today’s leading industries.

This year’s conference will be in Dallas, Texas, from March 22 to March 25. Veteran EDGE 2023
will feature a lineup of guest speakers, panel discussions, and breakout sessions designed to inform
veterans on the latest policies, best practices, and opportunities uniquely available to them to help ensure
the success of their small business.

“Our intent is to make Veteran EDGE 2023 the single best conference yet for military-affiliated
entrepreneurs. Veteran EDGE embodies the immense potential that’s readily available when veteran
businesses owners come together in support of each other,” said Dr. Michael Haynie, IVMF Founder and
Executive Director. “Having to forgo this in-person event recently due to COVID-19, I’m excited that we
are to move ahead with bringing this celebration of veteran entrepreneurship back to life this year better
than ever before.”

Veteran EDGE brings 250 military-affiliated entrepreneurs together from the entire spectrum of
the entrepreneurial journey; from small business owners celebrating their first year in operation to leading
C-Suite executives with multiple appearances on the Inc.5000 list. The conference serves as a unique
opportunity for veteran business owners to learn from each other in mentorship, support each other in
partnership, and celebrate their mutual accomplishments in entrepreneurship.

Additionally, more than 200 organizations, including IVMF’s strategic partners, will be on hand
with available programs and resources specifically for veteran business owners. Government agencies,
financial institutions, Fortune 500 businesses, and a coalition of military-affiliated business owners will be
readily available to discuss current policies, future trends, and best practices for the next generation of
business owners to be successful in their entrepreneurial goals.

Participants can expect to receive invaluable information on best practices and resources, guided
by successful entrepreneurs and business professionals who have decades of experience under their
belt. Some Veteran EDGE participants will also receive support through the D’Aniello Family Foundation
Acceleration Challenge. Ten applicants will participate in a series of activities and workshops to assess
the barriers confronting their business, and best prepare them to leverage the resources of the
conference. The ten participants will also have the opportunity to apply for up to $10,000 in grant funding
to support the growth of their small business.

Thanks to the generosity and support of sponsors, Veteran EDGE delivers invaluable resources
and opportunities for military-affiliated entrepreneurs at a competitively low price. Included in the $250
registration free, participants will receive the following:

 Conference Pass providing access to all four days of conference events.
 Ticket to Vet100 Awards Dinner (Saturday, March 25 th )
 All meals during the conference are provided.
 Lodging for all four nights (Check in: Wednesday, March 22.  Check out: Sunday, March
26)

Veteran EDGE is more than the run-of-the-mill networking event, past participants have found
opportunities to make powerful connections for their business and, in some cases, even make business
agreements. Take for example Sherman Williams, a U.S. Army Veteran and CEO of BodyWater, LLC.
Williams was a 2019 EDGE participant who was able to pitch his product to a major international retail
chain while attending Veteran EDGE in 2019.

“I was able to talk to a Walmart representative and actually provide them with a sample,” said
Williams. “He told me he couldn’t guarantee anything, of course, except that I would get a hard look
versus someone who wasn’t a part of Veteran EDGE.”

Because of that chance meeting, Williams was able to have his product placed in 45 Wal-Mart
locations throughout the Eastern United States. Participants can also expect opportunities to gain
valuable insight on how to secure federal contracts for their business as well as how to access much
needed capital to help grow their business.

To ensure that participants receive the best possible experience, registration is limited. Qualified
applicants will be accepted to attend the conference on a first come, first serve basis. With spots typically
filled by the end of February, those entrepreneurs interested in guaranteeing a place at this year’s
conference are highly encouraged to apply early.
